Strahan is located on Tasmania’s west coast and is around 4.5 hours’ drive (300 kilometres) from Hobart. Strahan is a small harbour side village on the edge of the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area. You can explore Macquarie Harbour from a sea kayak, go jet boating or visit the awesome Henty sand dunes. There are seaplane flights from Strahan over the wild forests of the southwest wilderness and cruises on the glassy water of the Gordon River. Treat yourself to fine Tasmanian food and wine, including freshly caught seafood, at one of Strahan’s restaurants or cafes, or browse the craft shops for a Huon Pine artefact made by a local artist.
