Wings Wildlife Park is an animal sanctuary located close to Ulverstone, on Tasmania's North West Coast offering cabin accommodation at Gunn’s Plains. Wings Wildlife Park offers timber cabins, backpacker units, a caravan park and campsites for independent travellers just looking to pitch their tent. The 6 self-contained cabins sleep 5 persons with linen included as well as towels and basic kitchen facilities. Ensuite cabins are also available. The backpacker units include a heater, kettle, refrigerator and small stove and have a water supply close by. You can also camp at powered or unpowered sites on the large grassed area aside the banks of the Leven River. There are 10 powered sites, an amenities block with laundry and disability access, self contained cabins, ensuite cabins, backpacker accommodation, campground, powered sites suitable caravans, campervans, motorhomes and an amenities block. Cabins guests can purchase discounted entry for the wildlife park for the duration of your stay. Walk through the grounds to see Australian native animals including Tasmanian devils, wombats, birds, lizards and snakes, camels and American bison. The main camping area at Gunns Plains is a large, grassed, riverside area with some shade. Powered sites and a picnic shelter are available near the amenities, and camping is also available there. The amenities, including toilets, showers, disabled facilities and laundry block, are situated beyond the reception building.
The majority of native animals at Wings Wildlife Park have been rescued following injury and are released into their natural habitat when rehabilitated. Those unable to be released remain in their care for the remainder of their lives.
